I've been thinking.... What makes a story so amazing? Is it the idea? Is it the way it's written? What makes "Twilight" better than "I Am the Messenger"? To me, I think a book is good or bad depending on how one perceives or interprets it.
Authors always try to make the public like a piece of literature using the media. "All the news papers are obsessed with this book, so I must love this book. It will make me an artsy person,". What is up with this world?
For me, it needs to be engaging with good writing but not to complicated that I need to read each sentence five times to understand it. A good example is the "Cherub" series. This series is an action story with enough description for me to understand it, but not to much I can't follow it. A horrible example of a bad book is "The Lord of the Rings" series. The book is to lengthy, the text is way to small, and the author keeps introducing more ideas when you're trying to finish one. However; this is my opinion.
If you do like really big, thick, small text book, then be my guest. But don't let the media tell you what books you like.
All I'm saying is that a structure to an amazing book is what you want it to be.
